Bernard Steverlynck appointed CEO of Aspiravi Group
Aspiravi Group announces the appointment of Bernard Steverlynck as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Rik Van de Walle, who led the company into a prominent and integrated renewable energy player with operations in Belgium, France, Spain, Curaçao and Scotland. Since its founding in 2002, the company has remained proud of and loyal to its Belgian roots, with 94 Belgian cities and municipalities as shareholders, and over 13,000 citizen-cooperators.
“Bernard brings extensive experience and know-how in the field of management,” says Raf Drieskens, Aspiravi’s chairman. “He is exactly what we need to drive the next phase of Aspiravi’s growth.”
Rik Van de Walle will continue to serve as General Manager of the Offshore Business Unit, as the driving force behind Aspiravi Antillen and as a Senior Advisor to the management team.
“We have grown in a focused and successful way since 2002, but the world around us has become increasingly complex,” adds outgoing CEO Rik Van de Walle. “Bernard embodies Aspiravi’s values and is well equipped to lead this remarkable company in a sector in full transition.”
Bernard Steverlynck is committed to further strengthening Aspiravi’s solid position as a pioneer in renewable energy, focusing on the development of wind, solar, and battery projects for the B2B market.
Bernard Steverlynck, new CEO of Aspiravi:
“Aspiravi is built on a solid foundation laid over the past 23 years. I am thrilled to continue the group’s profitable growth, together with our strong and dedicated team. The execution of our growth strategy will be the key focus for the coming years.”
The energy landscape is facing significant challenges. From shifts in the regulatory framework and volatile electricity prices, to flexible consumption patterns and rising investment costs.
“In an era where strategic autonomy is a key concern, our Belgian roots are a real asset to deliver long-term value,” says Steverlynck. He adds: “Collaboration between the government and the energy sector is more crucial than ever. We are ready to support that collaboration and continue our pioneering role to drive the energy transition.”
